Observation Details
As we were skinning the drainage, our group noticed significant surface hoar when we came to the apron of this slide system. Nate T. and I dug a 150cm pit at the bottom of the slide, N aspect, 3780ft. Temperature was just below freezing, but warming with the strong sunshine. Clear skies. Did a quick shovel shear test and observed 3 consolidated slabs within the snowpack—a top storm slab, and two other slabs of similar size (~50cm each). We noticed the "dust layer" everyone has been talking about ~60cm from the ground. ECTN17. Nate continued his taps and got that layer to propagate across the whole column on 22. We cut along that same layer during our Propagation Saw Test. PST about 95/100 end.
