Observation Details

Pit was 105cm to the ground. First 15cm of wind drift (F) snow sat on top of a melt freeze crust. The crust is about 1cm, pencil/knife hard. Below this layer we found a consolidated slab of 4F+ hard snow resting on a layer of facets at a depth of 50cm.

Two ECT's at different elevations resulted in ECTX. We chose to ski the line given these test results and the absence of red flags during our ascent. Descent/egress were without incident.
