Observation Details
Dug a pit midway down the slide below the Northeast Bowl. Slope angle 26˚. No precip. Clear skies. Light west wind. Previous blowing snow. Temperature in the mid teens. Height of snow 255cm. Pit depth 115cm. We observed different layers at 115-100cm, 82cm, 71cm, 53cm, 35cm, and 31cm from the surface. These layers coincided with our stability test results.
CT12 Q3 at 100cm down from surface. CT15 Q2 and ECTN14 at 82cm down. And CT21 Q2 and ECTN28 at 71cm down.
We observed one 5mm thick melt freeze crust at 71cm, which also coincided with our results. It will be interesting to see how the upcoming warm up and rain events will change our snowpack.
