Observation Details
12 to 18 inches of loose unconsolidated powder rapidly transitioned to 6 in thick reactive wind slabs in isolated terrain features. Careful route finding to avoid these slabs was critical. We chose to ride terrain that was relatively sheltered from the wind loading and avoided encountering wind slabs in more consequential locations. Winds continued throughout the day transporting more snow. Temperatures rapidly increased in the ~1130-1400 hours.
