Observation Details
Fresh snowfall and large wind drifts sit on top of a thick crust. Our pit was not deep enough for conclusive tests, but hasty pits gave way easily on steeper micro terrain and convexes.
The crust broke underfoot on the bootpack but only collapsed with some effort when skis were on (ie. jumping off natural features, or stomping to test snow.)
Ice is still exposed with little snow on top in many places. Running water could be heard under the ice flow at times.
