Observation Details
Dug a pit midway down the slide below the Northeast Bowl. Slope angle 26˚. No precip. Clear skies. Light west wind. Previous blowing snow. Temperature in the mid teens. Height of snow 255cm. Pit depth 115cm. Measuring down from the surface, we observed different layers at 0-15cm, 33cm, 44cm, 62cm, 80cm, and 84cm. These layers coincided with our stability test results.
CT12 Q3 at 15cm down from surface. CT15 Q2 and ECTN14 at 33cm down. And CT21 Q2 and ECTN28 at 44cm down.
We observed one 5mm thick melt freeze crust at 44cm, which also coincided with our results. It will be interesting to see how the upcoming warm up and rain events will change our snowpack.
